I'm a Life-Long Learner & English Teacher!
I strongly believe that as an educator, I must be a life-long learner as a role model for students; I cannot show my students the importance of learning unless I myself am striving to develop as well.
My life has always been directed to English teaching and learning: I first participated in the ESL program in Canada as an undergraduate student and then studied as an exchange student in Minnesota in order to polish my English. After coming back to Japan, I became a Tokyo Metropolitan public high school teacher, extremely motivated to teach English. To improve my teaching skills, I earned a Certificate in Teaching English as Foreign Languages (TEFL) at the University of California, Irvine and further pursued an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Teachers College (TC), Columbia University. After graduating from TC, I worked at a private high school as well as an international university. I’m currently studying in the PhD in Second Language Studies program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM). I’m eager to further enhance my English teaching knowledge and skills to be a better educator as well as a teacher-trainer.
